Today as I prayed and did devotional, I was reminded of what it means to have a relationship with GOD, who “never” gives up on us.
As I read through “Self Sabatoge: The Other Enemy” by Andrena Sawyer, CEO of in Umm Minority Christian Women Entrepreneurs Network (MCWEN), in the You Version Bible app.
I realized that my relationships with men always went south (failed). At the root was having never witnessed my parents, although married 59 years relate as a couple.
I had not idea how to relate, relatively. Mom has mental illness and now dementia, and Dad probably saw Mom as broken. So he sought a relationship outside of their marriage.
He stayed, she stayed but where was the relating? I in turn had a false sense of what love looked like. Sex for me equaled love. Wrong!!!
Sex in a relationship honored in marriage is love. That’s intimacy. Sex outside of marriage at the end of the day, that is not built on commitment is just lust. A temporary fix that can leave you feeling EMPTY.
The root of my failed relationships is not seeing marriage behavior that mirrored GOD’s love (Train up a child; Proverbs 22:6).
So when I felt like I was more of a sex tool, only to fulfill lust I ran and ran and ran.
This inability to relate does not only include
male relationships and sex.
The inability to relate could translate to always leaving a job; not having real lasting friendships with males or females; or not keeping your word when you commit to commit.
Having a guide that shows us how to relate is so important. I found that guide in the Bible.
The Bible has a scripture for every situation in our lives.
GOD, Jesus and the Holy Spirit are relatable. GOD wants us to relate to His Son, our Savior and the Holy Spirit our guide.
That is why our spiritual health is so important, and our spiritual alignment with GOD leads us to a fulfilled purpose driven life.
Are you spiritually aligned with GOD, so that you know what He wants for your life?
If not, why not?
Reflect on those questions and let me know.
Spiritually and Lovingly,
